A Letter to Anyone Who Is About to Give Up

I see you.

Not in the inspirational poster way. Not in the way that motivational accounts use that phrase before telling you to manifest your dreams or whatever.

I mean I actually see you. Because I am sitting right there next to you.

You are not failing because you did not want it badly enough. You are not failing because you did not try hard enough. You gave everything. You went after it. You put in the hours nobody saw, said no to things you wanted to do, ground yourself down to the bone for something you believed in. And it is still not happening.

That is not a lack of effort. That is one of the hardest places a human being can be.

I know because I am there right now.

I have been working on this brand for a year. On top of a full time job. On top of trying to maintain the relationships that matter to me. On top of bills and obligations and the thousand small things it takes just to keep yourself alive and living indoors. I am tired. Genuinely, deeply tired in a way that is hard to explain to someone who has not felt it.

And yet here I am. Writing this letter at whatever hour it is. Because I think you need to hear it and honestly because I need to say it.

Here is what it actually feels like when you are in it. Not the version people post about. The real version.

You are in a pitch black room. You have been in there for a long time. All you need is one pin prick of light. Just one small thing that says this is working. This is real. Keep going.

And it is not coming.

So you sit there. And you think about all the people who seem to have it figured out. Who seem to be moving forward while you are standing still. And you wonder if maybe you were wrong about yourself. If maybe you are not the person you thought you were when you started this.

You are not wrong about yourself.

You are just in the dark part.

I watch motivational videos sometimes. Late at night when the doubt gets loud. Some of them are genuinely helpful. Some of them, if I am being brutally honest, completely suck. Guys in rented Lamborghinis telling you that you just need to want it more. Like the problem was ever about wanting it.

You wanted it. You still want it. That was never the issue.

I keep going for a reason I can barely explain.

At this point I have been throwing myself against this wall for so long that I just keep doing it. Maybe it is determination. Maybe it’s a bad habit I can’t quit. Maybe I should be evaluated by a professional.

But there is a small voice in the back of my head that even in my darkest moments just whispers keep going.

And for some inexplicable reason I listen to it.

Life is like a casino and I am a gambling addict. No matter how long I have been sitting at the table losing my shirt, some part of me still thinks it is worth one more roll of the dice. I do not have much to lose. So I keep playing.

Here is what I think that voice actually is.

It is the version of you from day one.

The you who started this with energy and focus and belief. The you who knew exactly why you were doing it and felt something real when you thought about what it could become.

That version of you is still in there. And they are proud of how far you have come. They know how much you have overcome to get to where you are right now. They are not disappointed in you.

They are begging you not to stop.

I am not going to tell you it is definitely going to work out. I do not know that. I cannot promise you the ending you want.

What I can tell you is this.

Giving up now will cost you more than trying again ever would.

Not because of what you might miss out on. But because of what you will have to carry. The weight of the unlived version of the thing you believed in. That weight does not go away when you stop trying. It just changes shape.

The person who kept going and did not make it is not the same as the person who never tried. One of them knows what they are made of.

So if you are reading this tonight, in the dark, tired in a way sleep does not fix, wondering if it is time to stop.

Do not stop tonight.

Just tonight. That is all I am asking. Do not stop tonight.

Tomorrow you can reassess. Tomorrow you can make whatever decision feels right. But tonight, close the laptop, get some rest, and give yourself one more day.

Because that voice in the back of your head? The one whispering keep going even when everything else is telling you to quit?

It knows something the doubt does not.

Listen to it.

We are the underdogs. We don't stay down, we bite back.
